Lithology and Thickness
Dolomitic limestone. This formation of carbonate rocks, total thickness 212 m, is divided into two members.
Lower - Hejiazhai Member, is composed of gray, medium- to thick-bedded dolomitic limestone intercalated with siliceous limestone and calcareous mudstone, black shale, and argillaceous in the lower part. The basal part is dominated by thin-bedded quartz sandstone with pebbles and limonite concretions, 96.4 m thick.
Upper - Lujiazhai Member, is characterized by alternations of dark gray limestone, stromatoporoid limestone, dolomitic limestone and clayey limestone intercalated with marl and siltstone, 156.4 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The formation rests conformably on the grayish-black medium-bedded limestone of Dushan Fm, separated from it by the appearance of sandstone with limonite concretions.
Upper contact
The formation is overlain by the ostracod-bearing dolomite of Yaosuo Fm (at Dushan location; but uncertain at the far-western Guizhou Hezhang location.
Regional extent
The formation is widely distributed in Dushan, Duyun, Huishui and Anshun of southeast Guizhou.
